e. 1: What is the present state of your bodily health?
Ans. It is pretty poor I believe.
e. 2: What is the present condition of your mind and memory?
Ans. My mind is right and perhaps my memory might be called good.
e. 3: Do you remember what you charged Mr. Sanford for board in the
account which you filed in court?
Ans. $4.00 per week.
Q. 4: Do you remember what you charged for rent of buildings in ac-
count you filed in court?
Ans. About $5.00 a piece the four would be $20.00.
Q. 5: Do you remember about a note for $78.20 given by you to Mr.
sanford dated Jany. 11, 1894?
Ans. No sir, I don't remember.
0. 6: Do you remember about a note for $150.81 given by you to Mr.
sanford dated Sept. 16th, 1896?
Ans. Never had no such note never had no such money don't know any-
thing about it.
e. 7: When did you marry Mrs. Sanford and when did she die?
Ans. 24 years ago I married her she died about July of this year.
Q. 8: Between what dates did you hold the Post Office?
Ans. I held the Post office not quite 4 years and I was relieved of
it a year and a half ago.
0. 9: What portion of your time was occupied with the duties of the
Post Office while you had it?
Ans. six days of a week I had to attend the Post Office.
e. 10: What portion of each day was given to these duties?
Ans. The fore part of the day I went in to the office at six in the
mopring until 12 noon and some of the after-noon and it would destroy
2/3 of the day.

11: Did you ever present to Mr. sanford any bill for board?
Ans. No sir:

Ans. Because I did not wish to and he was off and on as if he belong-
ed to one of the family.

13: Did you keep any account of his board? upon any book or paper?
Ans. No, no break in his time at all.
e. 14: Was he here; then all the time for 6 years,
Ans. He would be off about his business and back again.
Q. 15: What portion of his time was he away about his business?
Ans. He would have his vituals in the monring go to his business and
return when he wanted more.
e. 16: Was he not away for days and weeks at a time?
Ans. No sir, not weeks, days he was.
