College of the Atlantic: Mount Desert Rock/Light Station, College of the Atlantic, Unorganized Island Territory, Hancock County, ME
Mount Desert Rock is a remote, treeless island situated in the Gulf of Maine approximately 25 nautical miles south of the College of the Atlantic campus in Bar Harbor. The former US Coast Guard light station on the island is now the Edward McC. Blair Marine Research Station. The island lies within unorganized islands in Hancock County.
